Over the past few years, auto shows around the world had apparently started to lose their relevance. With fewer attendance and increasingly smaller participation from the big names in the automotive world, these former gigantic world events had already been reduced to pale shadows of their past glory when the pandemic took hold. Now, the disruption caused by Covid-19 and the shortage of microchips has sped up this process, forcing organizers to look for new ways to present automobiles. #NoFilterDXB is Dubai’s response to this post-pandemic situation. Positioned as an outdoor urban lifestyle event, the reinvented Dubai Motor Show was inaugurated today at the Port of Dubai by Shaikh Mansoor bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. The event will run until November 27. Being the first major international event in the city’s brand new waterfront leisure destination, the automotive event will also serve as the starting point for the UAE Golden Jubilee Weekend.
Despite being a lifestyle event, organizers insist automobiles are at the heart of #NoFilterDXB, with Gargash Motors marking the UAE’s 50th anniversary by launching the Mercedes-AMG G 63 UAE Golden Jubilee Edition – only 50 of the cars will ever be made. A special first public unveiling by Bentley, the presentation of the new Range Rover, the first major public appearance of the INEOS Grenadier in the Middle East are some of the attractions, as well as the Dubai Supercar Parade which will take place on Saturday 27 November. The parade will see many of the world’s most sought-after supercars roll through the streets of Dubai Port, JBR and JLT. Returning to the Port of Dubai, the cars will remain on display to the public at #NoFilterDXB.
“We are evolving from the traditional auto show format and transforming #NoFilterDxb outdoors into a completely experiential and immersive festival. We have curated experiences in Car Driving, ranging from Drift, Bike Stunts, Buggy Thrills to Lifestyle Street Culture, Art, Fashion, Sports, Fitness and more to capture and reflect the lifestyle attractive from United Arab Emirates. We made full use of the entire Dubai Port space for this commemorative edition of #NoFilterDxb because we promise an experience like no other. 80% of the space is dedicated to interactive activations that the public can participate in, ”said Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President, Events Management, DWTC.
“As a luxury brand, we are delighted to collaborate with #NoFilterDxb to celebrate the automotive industry in this experiential festival and on a momentous occasion such as the United Arab Emirates Jubilee and are delighted to present some of the brand’s latest models. “said Ivo. A. Kapitzki of Gargash Mercedes-Benz.
Some of the notable names attending this year’s show include Aston Martin, BMW, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Bentley, Nissan, and Infiniti.
The show is open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are available online via Platinumlist from Dh60.
