With fuel prices soaring, major manufacturers are turning to electric-powered powertrains. Major companies are launching the electric counterparts of their already established fossil-fuel electric vehicles.
The latest segment unveiling came from Japanese automaker Toyota, which unveiled the EV avatar of its highly successful multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), the Toyota Innova. Surprise, Toyota launched the Innova EV at the 2022 Indonesia International Motor Show, which will be held from March 31 to April 10 in Jakarta.
The car, at first glance, appears to be based on the running Toyota Innova Crysta. The exteriors of the car are evident from the powertrain that will pull it on the tarmac. The absence of air ducts for ventilation at the front of the car suggests that the car will not be hybrid but will refine a purely electric powertrain.
Along with the front of the car, the rear of the car also hints that the car will have a battery-powered motor as it is adorned with ‘Electric’ and ‘Innova EV’ branding.
Multiple videos and images of the car have also been catapulted onto social media and have revealed the curves and edges of the Toyota Innova EV. Here is one where the car is seen surrounded and filled with people. Check out the video for a first look at the Innova Crysta’s EV avatar.
Although the Toyota Innova EV is nearly identical to the Innova Crysta, the electric-powered Innova has a few features that set it apart from its fossil-fueled predecessor. These features include a slightly modified bumper, new alloy wheels, blue accents adorning the headlights and taillights, and blue decals covering the periphery of the EV.
During the unveiling of the IIMS 2022, the Japanese automaker put an end to the details and specs of the car, but the veil on those is expected to lift soon.
