Indonesia Motor Show 2021: Honda SUV RS Concept Breaks Cover as Potential WR-V Successor in India

  • Honda RS SUV could be on the cards for a launch in India.
  • It has a sportier approach to its design unlike its upright rivals.
  • Should have the latest features such as connected car technology, touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver display.
  • Powertrain and technical specifications yet to be disclosed.

Honda has a surprise in store for you at the 2021 GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Check out the new RS concept SUV, a probable rival of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza who could be the successor to the WR-V cross hatch. And at first glance, the design of the SUV begins with an excellent positive impression.

It’s pretty obvious that Honda has taken a sportier approach with the design of this SUV, especially since it’s an RS. The front gets a sleek mesh grille which is much better than the chrome loaded grille on recent Honda’s. Then there is the stylish LED lighting up front and back which adds a lot of character.

Our favorite element clearly has to be his profile. Unlike its vertical rivals, the RS SUV concept gets a sloping roofline (similar to the T-ROC) which gives it a unique look. Large alloy rims and gloss black coating add to the beefy look. Clearly, Honda has gone all out with the design and it works!

Honda has yet to disclose the interior and features of the SUV. But we think the SUV should get all the latest gadgets like connected car tech, a sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and cruise control. The Indonesian model could also benefit from Honda’s ADAS Sensing suite of safety features.

It is still too early to talk about engines at this stage. We promise to keep you updated as we get more information on this.

It remains to be seen whether the Honda SUV RS will arrive in India or not. But if that were the case, the RS SUV would rival the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Renault Kiger.
