Dorset Blind Association car show returns to Lulworth Castle

A POPULAR car show which attracts thousands of people will return to Lulworth Castle this year to raise awareness and funds for the Dorset Blind Association.

After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Dorset Blind Association Motor Show invites owners of classic, sports and super cars to the show ground, which comes with a family fun day open to the public.

The event, the only car show held on the Lulworth estate, has proved hugely popular with the public and car owners and has sold out in previous years.

Olivia Akam, who drives a 1964 Morris Minor Convertible, said: “It’s a splendid and well thought out event, and I’m delighted to see its return.

“We love being able to relax by our cars in such a beautiful setting. The Classics tour takes place through beautiful countryside, and the event offers so much to so many people…a great day out with the family and for a good cause. I can’t wait to tweak the car for this one.

For owners of classic, sports and supercars, the show begins with a 20-mile ‘Dorset Tour’ through the local countryside before returning to Lulworth Estate to join the show.

The exhibition center, accessible free of charge, will offer shows, a children’s playground, food stalls, a beer tent and local craft stalls.

James White, Brand Manager at Hendy Group, said: “We are very pleased to be part of the Dorset Blind Association Motor Show for 2022. We will be bringing a range of vehicles to the show from our Toyota, Lexus, Renault and Dacia brands.

“If you are looking for a car or just want to explore the range available, we invite you to come and talk to our product specialists.”

The event takes place on Sunday September 18 with the free opening of the exhibition center to the general public at 11am.

For those bringing a vehicle and wishing to be part of the Dorset Tour and Showground Exhibit, the cost is £12 per person. This includes entry and tour information, display on the show grounds, breakfast and hot drink at registration, and exclusive entry to Lulworth Castle.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the visit begins at 10:30 a.m. Advance booking is essential.
